Find the right projects. Follow their progress. Know when to act.
Keep relevant plumbing projects in view for months. A dated change gives your trade sales team a reason to review the evidence and plan the next call.
Find your kind of work

Illustrative project tracker
A project naming washroom rough-ins fits your area. Save it and review its application date.
An in-app notification prompts you to reopen the same project's source. Review the change and its evidence.
If you make a call, add a private note: “Asked about washroom rough-ins; confirm scope and purchasing status before following up.” Decide whether to act or keep watching.
Scope, filters and timing for Plumbing
Matches come from published permit wording and are narrowed by supported filters. Read application, issue, source-update and observed-movement dates separately; they are not construction start dates, bid dates or buying windows. The reported estimate is the City's figure, not a budget or contract value. Use the available date filters and list sorts to order your research, not a personalized ranking or score.
Plumbing scope: Plumbing, drain, fixture and piping terms in the permit text drive the niche match; building type and area narrow it.
Plumbing timing: Recently issued records float up so you can check package status while the scope is current.
Plumbing jobs: Washroom rough-ins, Water service, Drains and sanitary, Restaurant fit-outs.
AI research, contacts and provider charges
Explicitly requested AI-assisted research uses source-linked public-web information about a project, relevant business or professional person. Nothing runs automatically. Each research run you request incurs provider charges; availability depends on eligible account access, lead eligibility and provider configuration and controls. Findings remain unverified until checked, may be partial, and do not become verified project evidence. Check citations and professional role relevance; contact discovery is not guaranteed. No automatic outreach or dedicated Google or LinkedIn scraping is promised.
Private accounts, notifications and reports
Saving new jobs requires current qualified records and eligible signed-in access. Saved jobs, notes and reports are private to your account, including individual logins under shared billing; this is not a shared CRM. Notes do not schedule reminders. Changes to saved records appear as in-app notifications for eligible signed-in members, with no email, push or real-time monitoring promise. Reports require eligible membership: select projects, draft, review and confirm before downloading a PDF. Scheduled source checks can lag or fail; inspect each record's source date.
In setup, choose Plumbing as your trade niche. You can revisit the choice in Settings.
Source policy · filtering uses published City records, and source checks are scheduled and can lag.
Source checks and qualification before outreach
- Scheduled City-source ingestion
- PermitClue is designed to ingest published City of Toronto records on a daily schedule. Source checks can lag or fail, so read the source date rather than assuming the record is current.
- Qualify before outreach
- Build a focused trade prospect list, not a list of confirmed buyers. A match does not confirm a buyer or purchase. Business contacts are shown as verified only when explicitly published and verified; unverified research is labelled separately. Outreach remains your team's decision.
Interior plumbing, services and civil work are not the same opportunity
— qualified permit records
Verified count loads separately when available.
Default niche rules; direct, qualified source-backed matches. A permit can match several niches: do not add these counts together. These are not buyers, bids or purchase requests.
Official City sourceWatermain, sewer and storm references may concern outside services rather than an interior package. Read the permit type and context instead of lumping every water term together.
Direct fit
Stated in the official record
- Plumbing, water service, sanitary, storm or drain work named in the description
- Fixtures or piping stated in the published scope
- A plumbing or drain permit type linked to the record
Inferred fit
Plausible, but your judgement
- A kitchen or washroom alteration that may involve plumbing
- A restaurant or food-service fit-out that often needs drainage
- A new building that will require services but does not describe them
Not established
Verify elsewhere
- Pipe sizes, fixture counts, approved materials or engineering detail
- Contract value or the party responsible for the plumbing package
- Whether work is new, a repair or already complete
A qualification workflow for Plumbing
Choose Plumbing in setup
Contractors choose a trade niche at sign-up and can change it later in Settings.
Filter by building type and scope
Restaurants, multi-unit residential and commercial alterations behave differently. Use building type, area and published scope together.
Classify each record yourself
Mark it interior, service connection or site work before it enters your queue. PermitClue does not classify every described system for you.
Save and review changes
Saved records stay private. Updates are source-backed and appear in the app for eligible members.
Source dates and overlapping niches
Read the date before the match
Every record links to its official source. Application, issue and update dates mean different things, and PermitClue checks official sources on a schedule that can be delayed. Always inspect the source date shown on the record.
One permit, several niches
Default niche membership overlaps. A single permit can qualify for more than one niche, so counts across niches must not be added together or read as a number of buyers.

Timing: what a status can and cannot tell a plumber
- An application under review may support early research.
- Issuance is a municipal milestone, not evidence that plumbing procurement is open.
- Inspections and later records may concern work already underway.
- Administrative updates should not be presented as newly available demand.
More on permit movement and project timing. Timing is a prompt to research, not evidence that anyone is ready to buy.
A handoff your estimator will use
- Permit identifier, cited scope and location
- Source dates with their meaning
- Interior, service or site classification and your reasoning
- What to confirm before contacting a business
Inside the app you can search permits with keyword, area, building type, estimate and scope filters, keep private saved jobs, and see source-backed updates to saved records in the app. Reports move from draft to review to confirmed PDF and need sign-in and eligible membership. Contact investigation runs only where a cited business role and freshness can be verified. See what PermitClue does.
Questions to ask before you rely on a match
Can I use this to contact homeowners?
That is not what it is for. A named applicant is not automatically an owner or a purchasing authority, and PermitClue does not infer buyers.
Is a drain permit the same as a plumbing contract?
No. It records authorization. Quantities, pricing and who performs the work come from design or procurement documents.
How fresh are records?
Official sources are checked on a schedule, but delays happen. Read the source dates on every record.
