Find the right projects. Follow their progress. Know when to act.

Keep relevant decks & exterior projects in view for months. A dated change gives your supplier sales team a reason to review the evidence and plan the next call.

  1. Find your kind of work

Start with new decks. Narrow by keyword or scope, area, project or building type, stage, dates and reported estimate.

  2. Save

Keep only the projects you choose on a private shortlist.

  3. See dated movement

Source-backed changes to saved records appear with their dates as in-app notifications.

  4. Add private notes

Log calls and follow-ups. A date typed in a note is text, not a reminder.

  5. Share reviewed reports

Create a draft, review and confirm it, then export a PDF when you choose.

  6. Request AI research

Where available, request source-linked project, company, professional-person or contact research. Findings are unverified.

Illustrative project tracker

New decksAreaStageEstimate
Month 1: Filter & save

A project naming new decks fits your area. Save it and review its application date.

Month 4: A dated status change

An in-app notification prompts you to reopen the same project's source. Review the change and its evidence.

Your next step: Call, note & decide

If you make a call, add a private note: “Asked about new decks; confirm scope and purchasing status before following up.” Decide whether to act or keep watching.

In-app notice on a saved record
Illustrative example only. No real records, counts or contacts. Permit stage does not prove construction progress or an open purchase window.
Scope, filters and timing for Decks & Exterior

Matches come from published permit wording and are narrowed by supported filters. Read application, issue, source-update and observed-movement dates separately; they are not construction start dates, bid dates or buying windows. The reported estimate is the City's figure, not a budget or contract value. Use the available date filters and list sorts to order your research, not a personalized ranking or score.

Decks & Exterior scope: Deck and porch wording in the scope maps to Decks & Exterior. It is broader than a board-level material niche.

Decks & Exterior timing: A fresh dated record is the prompt to research; materials are usually chosen later, by someone the record does not name.

Decks & Exterior jobs: New decks, Porches, Rear and side additions with decks, Exterior stairs.

AI research, contacts and provider charges

Explicitly requested AI-assisted research uses source-linked public-web information about a project, relevant business or professional person. Nothing runs automatically. Each research run you request incurs provider charges; availability depends on eligible account access, lead eligibility and provider configuration and controls. Findings remain unverified until checked, may be partial, and do not become verified project evidence. Check citations and professional role relevance; contact discovery is not guaranteed. No automatic outreach or dedicated Google or LinkedIn scraping is promised.

Private accounts, notifications and reports

Saving new jobs requires current qualified records and eligible signed-in access. Saved jobs, notes and reports are private to your account, including individual logins under shared billing; this is not a shared CRM. Notes do not schedule reminders. Changes to saved records appear as in-app notifications for eligible signed-in members, with no email, push or real-time monitoring promise. Reports require eligible membership: select projects, draft, review and confirm before downloading a PDF. Scheduled source checks can lag or fail; inspect each record's source date.

Select Material Supplier in setup and, if offered, Wood and composite decks. After setup, choose the broader Decks & Exterior niche in the app. Product-family choices require their own published cohort; the broader count here does not certify that a material-specific family is available. Adjust profiles in Settings.

Source policy · filtering uses published City records, and source checks are scheduled and can lag.

Source checks and qualification before outreach
Scheduled City-source ingestion
PermitClue is designed to ingest published City of Toronto records on a daily schedule. Source checks can lag or fail, so read the source date rather than assuming the record is current.
Qualify before outreach
Build a focused supplier prospect list, not a list of confirmed buyers. A match does not confirm a buyer or purchase. Business contacts are shown as verified only when explicitly published and verified; unverified research is labelled separately. Outreach remains your team's decision.

Broad exterior context is not a product specification

— qualified permit records

Verified count loads separately when available.

Default niche rules; direct, qualified source-backed matches. A permit can match several niches: do not add these counts together. These are not buyers, bids or purchase requests.

Official City source

This niche captures exterior structures such as decks and porches. It is deliberately broader than a board-level material niche, and the two can overlap on the same permit.

Direct fit

Stated in the official record

  • A deck or porch explicitly named in the published work description
  • Exterior structure wording tied to the permit record
  • A named product only if the source states it

Inferred fit

Plausible, but your judgement

  • An addition with an exterior component that is not described
  • A house renovation that might include outdoor structure work
  • Any assumption about composite versus wood boards

Not established

Verify elsewhere

  • Material choice, species, brand or quantity
  • Who purchases materials: owner, builder or contractor
  • Structures too small to need a permit, which will not appear

A qualification workflow for Decks & Exterior

  1. Choose your research family in setup

Suppliers choose a supplier research or product family in setup, but only when its published cohort is available. You can revisit the choice in Settings.

  2. Filter by area and scope

Use keyword, area, building type and estimate filters. Search for deck or porch terms to narrow further.

  3. Read the permit for new work versus repair

A repair or retained deck is a different signal from a new structure. The source text decides.

  4. Investigate contacts only when verifiable

Contact research is offered only where a cited business role and freshness can be verified. No buyer is inferred.

Source dates and overlapping niches

Read the date before the match

Every record links to its official source. Application, issue and update dates mean different things, and PermitClue checks official sources on a schedule that can be delayed. Always inspect the source date shown on the record.

One permit, several niches

Default niche membership overlaps. A single permit can qualify for more than one niche, so counts across niches must not be added together or read as a number of buyers.

Toronto, not the GTA

Coverage is City of Toronto permit data. Read how Toronto building permits work and the source-use policy.

Timing for suppliers: the record is the start of research

  • Application and issue dates are official dates, not purchasing dates.
  • Material decisions often come after a permit, and may be made by someone you cannot see in the record.
  • An update to a saved record is a reason to re-check the source.
  • PermitClue does not claim buying windows.

More on permit movement and project timing. Timing is a prompt to research, not evidence that anyone is ready to buy.

What to give your inside or outside sales rep

  • Permit identifier and the deck or porch wording
  • New work, repair or unclear
  • Whether the source names any product
  • Dates, location context and questions to resolve

Inside the app you can search permits with keyword, area, building type, estimate and scope filters, keep private saved jobs, and see source-backed updates to saved records in the app. Reports move from draft to review to confirmed PDF and need sign-in and eligible membership. Contact investigation runs only where a cited business role and freshness can be verified. See what PermitClue does.

Questions to ask before you rely on a match

Is this the same as the decking materials niche?

No. Decks & Exterior is broader context. Decking Materials is a separate research family, and one permit can belong to both.

Can one permit appear in more than one niche?

Yes. Default niche membership overlaps, so counts from different niches should not be added together.

What if my cohort is not offered at sign-up?

Setup shows a supplier family only when its published cohort is available. Check Settings later.

Start with the record, then decide

Create an account, choose your supplier research family when available, and open the first source-linked record. A match does not guarantee contracts, buyers or available work.
